Lewis was first diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in 2020, which eventually progressed to stage IV. Her passing was confirmed by her sister, Lakshmi, who shared the heartbreaking news in a touching Facebook tribute.
“She’s free, and in His heavenly arms. Lord, rest her soul,” Lakshmi wrote, reflecting on the pain her sister endured and expressing comfort in her release from suffering.
Ananda Lewis was widely admired for her confident presence and sharp interviewing skills. She made her mark hosting shows like BET’s Teen Summit, MTV’s Total Request Live, and The Ananda Lewis Show—a talk show that bore her name.
