Tragedy struck at St. Nicholas Hospital located at 57 Campbell Street in Lagos Island on Sunday, as fire razed the ultra modern hospital, displacing over 40 patients on admission.
Naijalog learnt that the fire disaster occurred at about 9 00 p.m. on Sunday, destroying the medical complex, with equipment worth several millions.
An eyewitness, who simply gave his name as Ibrahim, said several sections of the hospital were affected by the inferno.
Ibrahim added that fire disaster may have been caused by electrical surge.
“We had to call on the management of the hospital to disconnect the source of their power supply, “ he added.
Confirming the fire disaster the director Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe, said the fire service was prompt in responding to the fire outbreak.
