A serious fire incident has occurred at the headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) located in the Central Business District of Abuja. The blaze, which reportedly started on the fourth floor of the multi-story building, has caused significant panic and disruption in the area.
Emergency Responders Struggle to Contain the Inferno
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the fire quickly escalated, spreading across the upper levels of the structure. Despite the prompt arrival of the Federal Fire Service, containing the intense flames has proven difficult. Security personnel on the ground, speaking on the condition of anonymity, expressed concern over the severity of the situation, noting that multiple firefighting trucks have deployed but the fire continues to burn fiercely.
Social media users near the scene, which is situated directly opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters, shared images and videos showing thick smoke billowing from the top floors. One eyewitness noted online that while emergency teams are putting in their best efforts, the fire seemed to be aggressively spreading across the top floor of the building.
