FIRE ENGULFS BALOGUN MARKET, IGANDO DUMPSITE IN LAGOS

A popular market in Lagos Island, Balogun Market, was razed by a raging inferno, which started in the early hours of Monday.

Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in South-West, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that the fire started at about 04:36 hours.

The fire reportedly affected four residential quarters, five plazas and a new generation bank situated near the busy market.

Officials of fire-fighters in the state were able to put out the fire but properties worth millions of Naira were reportedly destroyed by the fire, but no life was lost.

In another development, a raging fire gutted a dumpsite in Igando area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Monday morning.
