Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said that the Federal Government will create nothing less than one million direct jobs in 2016.
Osinbajo said on Thursday, December 31, that another one million poor Nigerians would benefit from the first phase of the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.
He said the scheme was intended to utilise the thrift system to grant loans to market women to enable them improve their businesses and earn decent living.
A statement was issued to this effect by Laolu Akande, the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Publicity.
The Vice President was said to have made the remark during an interactive session with a cross section of Nigerian Community in Burkina Faso.
Osinbajo was quoted to have restated President Buhari’s announcement of engaging 500,000 graduate-youths as teachers.
He said an estimated 500,000 non-graduate unemployed people would also be trained as artisans.
The Vice President disclosed that the homegrown school feeding programme would also boost agriculture, create jobs and wealth locally.
