The federal government on Tuesday complied with the order of the federal high court, Abuja directing it to produce Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA) in court. ‎

On January 20, Justice Adeniyi Ademola had ordered the federal government to produce Dasuki before the court on February 16. Ademola gave the order after Dasuki failed to show up for trial.

He stated that the accused person must be physically present in court to face the criminal charges against him.

Dasuki arrived at the court at 8:30am on Tuesday.

In the course of the proceedings on January 20, Dipo Okpeseyi, counsel to the federal government, withdrew an application seeking to stop Dasuki’s bail. The court thereafter struck out the application.

Also, Okpeseyi filed an application seeking the protection of witnesses in the trial of the former NSA.

But Ademola ‎adjourned ruling on the application, and for the commencement of trial to February 16.

Dasuki is facing a four-count charge of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He is also facing multiple counts of laundering money at the federal capital territory (FCT) high court, Abuja.
