FC Barcelona have officially won the La Liga title after defeating rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico with three games still remaining in the season.
Barcelona went into the match with an 11-point advantage over Madrid, meaning a draw would have been enough to secure the championship. However, the Catalan side went on to claim an impressive 2-0 victory in front of their home fans.
The opening goal arrived in the ninth minute when Marcus Rashford scored a brilliant free-kick past Thibaut Courtois. The Manchester United loanee curled the ball into the top corner to hand Barcelona an early lead.
Ferran Torres added the second goal in the 18th minute after calmly finishing off a move inside Madrid’s penalty area.
Real Madrid struggled throughout the encounter and were without star forward Kylian Mbappé, who reportedly missed the game due to a muscle injury.
Jude Bellingham thought he had reduced the deficit in the second half, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The match also produced heated moments after Trent Alexander-Arnold shoved Raphinha during an argument, leading to a brief confrontation that also involved Vinícius Júnior.
Teenage star Lamine Yamal later joined the celebrations despite being injured, as Barcelona fans marked another league triumph.
The title also represents a major achievement for manager Hansi Flick in his first season in charge of the club.
