Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has appointed eight new Permanent Secretaries, urging them to see their appointments as fresh opportunities to further uplift the state.
The new Perm Secs, Mr Olujimi Hotonu, Mrs Oluwatoyin Adegbuji-Onikoyi, Mrs Jokotola Ojosipe-Ogundimu, Mr Michael Dawodu, Mrs Florence Ogunfidodo, Mr Yinka Olaniyi, Mrs Margaret Titilayo and Dr Olukayode Oguntimehin, were inaugurated to their new posts on Monday.
Speaking at the inauguration of eight new appointees in Ikeja, Fashola urged them to discharge their responsibilities without let or hindrance.
“I welcome you to leadership responsibilities. Previously they will say the higher one goes the cooler it becomes,” he said. “But that is not the case here. As Permanent Secretaries, the higher you go, the tougher it becomes.
“I need to remind you of the oath of office you took here. Residents of Lagos will hold you accountable, especially that aspect that demands that you put public interest ahead of personal interests.”
Fashola urged the families of the appointees to show understanding as their new responsibilities would demand that they spend more time out of home.
He said that the government would continue to ensure that the right people were put in positions to drive the state’s development.
