Embattled Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on the Monitoring of the Fuel Subsidy regime, Farouk Lawan was last night prevented from leaving the country by security operatives at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Lawan was booked on an Emirates flight to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.
The suspended Chairman lawmaker is currently being investigated for collecting $620,000 bribe from Femi Otedola, the Chairman, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited, in order to cook the books in favour of the latter’s companies.
According to sources in the SSS, the representative was prevented from travelling for fear that he might flee the country to prevent being investigated or tried for the bribery allegation.
