Fani-Kayode’s mistress angry as judge fails to appear in court

Precious Chikwendu, mistress of Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, was visibly angry on Tuesday as the judge failed to appear in court, again.

Fani-Kayode is facing charges of fraud and money laundering at a federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

He was to be arraigned last Friday, but the case was postponed till Tuesday owing to the judge’s absence.

Chikwendu was pacified by Fani-Kayode, but she stormed out the court premises as EFCC took her husband back to custody.

No reason was given for the judge’s absence, but inside Fani-Kayode’s camp, the belief that there is a delay tactic to keep him behind bars.

Fani-Kayode, who was the spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign in the 2015 elections, was investigated for allegedly receiving money meant for arms purchase from the office of the former national security adviser.

He was brought to the court by EFCC officials.

On getting to the court, EFCC operatives discovered that the judge would not be sitting for the case.

He was immediately taken back to the vehicle by the operatives of the EFCC.

An Ikeja magistrate court in Lagos had ruled that Fani-Kayode could remain in EFCC custody for three weeks after his arrest on May 9.
