Colombia and Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has returned to training with his Monaco teammate on Friday since January after tearing anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Chasselay an amateur side during a last-32 French Cup ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Falcao has been included in Colombia’s 30-man provisional list despite the injury, with the news of his return to training it will be a big boost to the team ahead of the tournament.
A statement reads on the club’s official website without much detail: “Falcao didn’t miss out on the opportunity to join his teammates for the final training session of the season; He was keen to catch up with his teammates and take part in the session.”
The player has said for certain that going to the tournament fully fit is impossible considering he is short of playing time. He made the revelation in Spanish sports daily Marca “To go (to Brazil) 100 per cent ready in a footballing sense will be impossible because I’m short of playing time. To sum things up, if I feel good, I will go. If I see that I’m not sure of myself and that I have nothing to bring to the team, I’ll be reasonable and stay behind.”
Falcao is one of the star players leading to Colombia’s qualification to the World Cup considering he scored nine times during the qualification. Colombia has been drawn in Group C against Greece, Côte d’Ivoire and Japan and will be playing their opener against Greece in Belo Horizonte on 14 June.
