The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has called the former governor of Kano State to appear before it for interrogation about the contentious dollar tapes.
According to the Daily Trust, an online newspaper originally published the tapes in 2017, and they also claimed that the former governor was reportedly receiving bribes from contractors.
In the videos, Ganduje got some cash and wrapped it into a white “babanriga” garment.
The former governor disputed the charge and said that the films had been altered.
At a one-day public discussion on the “Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano,” Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, the chairman of PCACC, stated that the authenticity of the film had been proven.
Rimingado said the former governor had been invited for interrogation on the same video on Thursday.
On the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ganduje served as governor of Kano state for eight years. However, he was unable to install his favored candidate as his successor in the state’s March 18 governorship election.
Abba Kabir Yusuf, also known as Abba Gida Gida, the candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), beat the APC candidate in the election.
Yusuf has started looking into the previous governor’s administration after taking office as governor of Kano State.
