Elon Musk has made a bold new claim in his ongoing dispute with U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting that Trump is named in the still-unreleased Epstein Files.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on the evening of Thursday, June 5, Musk alleged:
“@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” ending the message with a pointed:
“Have a nice day, DJT!”
The “Epstein Files” refer to sealed Justice Department documents related to Jeffrey Epstein — the late convicted sex offender accused of trafficking underage girls to powerful figures.
Musk’s remarks come amid rising tension between him and Trump. Once close allies, their relationship has sharply deteriorated. Musk previously served as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a controversial agency created under Trump to reduce the size of the federal government, which led to mass job cuts. Musk exited the role just last week.
Following his departure, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO criticized Trump’s economic agenda, calling his tax and spending bill a “disgusting abomination.”
In response, Trump took to Truth Social on Thursday night, claiming he had personally asked Musk to leave the administration. The former president accused Musk of becoming erratic, saying he was “wearing thin” and had gone “CRAZY!”
