Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has cast doubt on President Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
El-Rufai’s remarks come shortly after the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, including the National Assembly and APC governors, publicly declared their support for Tinubu’s re-election bid. Senate President Godswill Akpabio had earlier expressed confidence that Tinubu would retain power, stating he remains the party’s sole presidential candidate.
Despite this show of party loyalty, El-Rufai voiced strong skepticism during an interview on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) national update. According to him, the notion of Tinubu securing re-election is detached from reality.
“Anyone who believes Bola Tinubu can win a second term must be living in a different country. There’s no way he can be re-elected. Even if the opposition is in disarray, I don’t see any path forward for him. Who exactly is going to vote for him? That’s just my opinion,” he stated.
El-Rufai’s comments have added to the ongoing political discourse surrounding Tinubu’s administration and the road to 2027.
