According to the Ogun State Police Command, Taiwo Odebiyi, a pastor, has been detained for reportedly lighting Sukura Owodunni, a 21-year-old woman, on fire during a deliverance service.
The event took place on August 17 at Cherubim and Seraphim, Maberu Parish, which is situated in the Offin, Sagamu region of Ogun State, according to the command’s spokeswoman, Omolola Odutola.

Reliable information indicated that the victim came to the church for a particular prayer at the pastor’s request.
She was instructed by the priest to purchase local eggs, incredible grace perfume, and a candle for the particular prayer.
The priest is alleged to have lit the candle and applied the perfume to the woman’s body while praying for her.

Owodunni allegedly burst into flames as soon as the pastor lighted the candle, severely burning her chest, shoulder, and legs in the process.
According to reports, once CSP Abdulfattah Ogunsanya, the Divisional Police Officer in Adigbe, and his men raided the church on Tuesday, the culprit was promptly apprehended.
Odutola continued by saying that an additional inquiry has been launched to determine the details of the heinous crime.
She said,
“The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention, but was said to have been abandoned to fend for her medical bills.
“Our men have arrested the suspect. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after the preliminary investigation is perfected,” Odutola said.
