Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi stopped from leaving the state house by the state commissioner of police over alleged plan of defecting to the PDP

A post shared by Naijalog (@naijalog) on Jun 21, 2020 at 6:43am PDT

Sahara Reporters had alleged that Ajayi has decided to join the PDP to contest against Governor Akeredolu in the state governorship election scheduled to hold on October 10, 2020. It was reported that the deputy governor’s defection plan has created disaffection among top members of the APC and loyalists of Akeredolu, who have been pleading with Ajayi not to leave the party.

Insiders said the Deputy Governor’s decision to contest in the governorship election stemmed from a cold war between him and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, which became visible shortly after the 2019 general elections.
