Denim is all the rave right now, it’s so versatile and easy to wear. There are two really hot denim trends right now; today we’ll focus on one – acid wash. Acid washed denim refers to denim that has been washed with chlorine and a pumice stone till it is bleached almost white. It’s a trend that was started by American surfers in the 1960s, but didn’t become very popular until the 1980s. Punk rockers would manually “stone-wash” their jeans and wear them; it didn’t take long before fashion companies discovered the look and started marketing it. The trend dropped from the fashion scene, but was re-invented for teenage girls in the early 2000s and has now found its way into 2014.
Acid wash can be found in various hues from bleached almost-white, to the stone-washed dark and even plain black. It is available in trousers, skirts, shorts, dresses and in jackets. Check out the various ways in which you can rock acid-washed denim.
