A 200-level Biotechnology student of Delta State University (DELSU) has been suspended for two years, according to a statement that surfaced online.
The disciplinary action was contained in a document signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba.
University Issues Suspension Letter
Dated October 21, 2025, the letter revealed that the student, identified as Ezi Ugoma, was punished for recording a dying student on her phone and uploading the video to TikTok.
The university ruled that she be rusticated for four semesters, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.
She is expected to return to continue her studies in the 2027/2028 academic year.
Part of the statement reads:
“After due consideration of the committee’s report, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel O. Asagba, has approved the recommendation that you be rusticated for 4 semesters on the offence of assault, with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session. You are to resume from the 2027/2028 academic session.”
DELSU Recently in Headlines
The university has faced multiple controversies this year.
Earlier in January 2025, DELSU lecturer, Professor Emeka Chukwuma, was murdered in his hometown in Asaba. Security agencies confirmed the killing and assured that investigations were ongoing to find those responsible.
