Dele Odule, a veteran in the Nigerian film industry, has revealed that he once went as far as pricing his own casket during a difficult period in his life.

He made this known in an interview with Feelright TV, where he opened up about a time he struggled with deep discouragement and a sense of hopelessness.

According to him, the decision came during a low point when he felt stuck in his career and believed he might never achieve success in the industry. He also mentioned that fellow actor Olaiya Igwe accompanied him at the time.

“I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness, and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby.

“I wasn’t sick, I just believed I can no longer have breakthroughs in the industry. I was fed up. Because all my school mates are doing far better than me and my life was nothing to write home about,” he said.

Dele Odule, who began his acting career in the 1970s, gained widespread recognition in 1993 after starring in the popular Yoruba film Ti Oluwa Nile.
