A new controversy has erupted as Nigerian comedian DeeOne accuses popular critic VeryDarkMan of masterminding the arrest of singer Terry Apala.
Earlier, NAIAJALOG had reported, citing online sources, that Terry Apala was allegedly remanded by a court over accusations of Naira mutilation, though the report is yet to be officially confirmed.
The situation escalated after Terry Apala issued a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding that VeryDarkMan remove a defamatory video he posted online.
Recently, VeryDarkMan alleged that both Terry Apala and DJ Tunez — a close associate of Afrobeats star Wizkid — were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for Naira mutilation and released after paying a sum in dollars.
Amid the back-and-forth, DeeOne added fuel to the fire by accusing VeryDarkMan of being behind Terry Apala’s arrest.
In a video circulating online, DeeOne claimed that VeryDarkMan paid ₦5 million to facilitate the arrest due to his displeasure over a letter written to him by Terry Apala.
“You paid N5M to get him arrested because you don’t like the letter he wrote to you. Then you came online to rejoice as if it is karma,” he alleged.
DeeOne also accused VeryDarkMan of artificially boosting likes on his Instagram videos and boldly predicted that the critic’s influence would fade by the end of 2025.
“All the people I’ve dragged don’t rise again. You are trying to shut me down on social media, but you want to talk,” he added.
