Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he almost quit music before releasing his hit track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
The singer made this known during a recent interview circulating on social media, where he reflected on his career and the unexpected success of the song.
According to Davido, he never imagined “With You” would become the standout hit from his 5ive album. Before its release, he was already considering stepping away from the music scene after more than a decade of active success.
Despite his long-standing career, the track reignited his passion for music and gave him a renewed sense of purpose.
Davido said:
“We thank God. 13 or 14 years after for me to have this kind of song, people have this kind of song at the beginning of their career or in the middle. Me that was even getting ready to bow out then God gives me this kind of song. He definitely added more life to it…”
Currently, “With You” holds the record as the #1 most streamed Nigerian song of 2025 on Spotify and has earned a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2025 AFRIMA Awards. It also topped major charts, including the Official Nigeria Top 100, and ranked among the Top 5 Afrobeats songs on Billboard US.
