Davido has opened up about the intense pressure he faced from his father in an attempt to make him abandon his music career.
Speaking during an interview on Big Boy TV, the Afrobeats star revealed that his father took drastic steps because he wanted him to quit music.
According to Davido, his father once became aware of his rising fame after seeing his image on a billboard and hearing from a security aide that his song was dominating clubs at the time.
He further claimed that his father went as far as having his girlfriend and a show promoter arrested, allegedly instructing authorities to detain them until he agreed to step away from music.
Davido added that on another occasion, his father also had several of his friends arrested after he refused to quit, which led to promoters avoiding him due to the situation. He noted that things only improved after he eventually settled the issues with his father.
The revelation sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans doubted his claims and accused him of exaggeration, others defended him, sharing similar personal experiences of strict parenting and disciplinary measures.
The discussion also brought back comments from Alex Otti, who previously spoke about the pressure Davido faced, noting that his father initially tried to stop his music journey before later allowing him to pursue it.
