David Abioye has stirred reactions online after a video surfaced showing him speaking about his long-standing relationship with David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel.
Abioye, who served in the ministry for decades before retiring and launching Conqueror Global Assembly, reflected on how his connection with Oyedepo evolved over the years.
According to him, he knew Oyedepo before he was called into ministry, but everything changed after the calling as he had to recognize and respect the grace of God upon Oyedepo’s life.
He explained that their relationship initially felt like that of brothers, but after the ministry calling, he understood the need to honor spiritual authority and leadership.
Abioye also made it clear that he never considered himself equal to Oyedepo and expressed gratitude for having that understanding. He added that throughout his journey, he had always served those ahead of him with joy rather than trying to compete with or replace them.
Speaking during an interview with Yemi Davids, the cleric emphasized the importance of understanding one’s limits, boundaries, and calling, while noting that starting a ministry is based on divine direction.
He further stated that ministers are not expected to remain on the same level as their spiritual leaders forever.
The viral clip has since generated mixed reactions online, with many people praising Abioye’s humility and maturity, while others debated whether the interview was recorded before or after the launch of his ministry.
