Controversial Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has landed in severe legal trouble after an Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos State ordered his remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The dramatic court decision comes on the heels of allegations that the internet personality threatened the life of Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu.
The Viral Video and Subsequent Arrest
The trouble began when DJ Chicken posted a video online that quickly went viral. In the footage, the content creator allegedly made direct threats against Seyi Tinubu while claiming that President Bola Tinubu would fail to secure re-election in 2027. Recognizing the gravity of his statements as the video gained massive traction, the creator later retracted his comments, pleading with the public and claiming the video was simply a joke designed to generate social media clout. However, law enforcement officials were not amused by the explanation, leading to his swift arrest and subsequent arraignment.
Severe Charges and Strict Bail Conditions
DJ Chicken faced a three-count charge in court, bordering on violations of the Cybercrimes Act, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and making threats to kill. Although the internet celebrity pleaded not guilty to all charges, the court set stringent conditions for his temporary release.
While the court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million, securing his freedom will require meeting several demanding criteria, including:
- Two sureties in like sum of ₦1 million each.
- One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a recognized community leader owning landed property in Lagos State.
- Sureties must present official evidence of three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, National Identification Numbers (NIN), and registration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).
- At least one of the sureties must be a direct blood relative of the defendant.
Remanded Pending Trial
Because the controversial influencer has yet to meet these rigorous bail conditions, the magistrate ordered him to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, meaning DJ Chicken may spend a significant amount of time behind bars unless his legal team can urgently satisfy the court’s demands.
