Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been taken into custody following allegations of cyberbullying leveled against her by fellow movie star Mercy Johnson.
The Arrest
According to reports, operatives from the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Center (Abuja) apprehended Okorie at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Seun Oloketuyi, a journalist and the founder of the BON Awards, disclosed that the actress was detained overnight at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, before being transported to the nation’s capital.
Oloketuyi wrote:
“Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja.
“She was put on 6am flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson.”
No Longer “Business as Usual”
This dramatic development comes just one week after Mercy Johnson issued a stern public warning. The actress had declared that she would no longer tolerate online attacks or bullying directed at her and her family in 2026, signalling a zero-tolerance approach to internet trolls and detractors.
