American singer, songwriter, and dancer Ciara Princess Wilson has expressed her admiration for the remarkable transformation of Lagos during her recent visit for Lagos Fashion Week, applauding the city’s improved cleanliness and development.
Reflecting on her earlier trips to Nigeria, Ciara recalled that Lagos was once known for its dirty and congested streets, but she was pleasantly surprised this time by the neat, paved roads and visible progress across the city.
In her words, she said:
“I’m so happy to be here and really glad. No, this is not my first time — I know Lagos. When I used to land, I would see dirty roads, but now it’s all clean and has changed.”
Her comments have stirred a wave of reactions online, with many commending the city’s progress and the government’s efforts toward urban renewal. Fans celebrated her recognition, while others urged her to visit less-developed areas to experience the full reality of Lagos.
One fan wrote, “Finally, someone global recognizes Lagos’ transformation. Welcome back, Ciara!” Another added, “Ciara needs to visit Mushin or Ajegunle to understand Lagos properly.”
Beyond its infrastructure, Ciara’s visit underscores Lagos’ growing reputation as Africa’s fashion, culture, and tourism hub, further cementing its appeal as a destination for international events and celebrities.
