Sadly, tragic news tonight as it’s being reported Kris Kross rapperChris Kelly has died tonight.
Kelly (pictured above on the left) passed away in Atlanta after being found unresponsive at his home.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office announced that the 34-year-old rapper was pronounced dead at about 5:00 pm today after being taken to Atlanta Medical Center.
The cause of death is unknown at this time as an autopsy has yet to be performed.
His mother, Donna Kelly Pratte, and The So So Def Family have released a statement about his untimely passing:
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”
Chris had worked with Chris Smith to bring Kris Kross to fame with hits like Jump.
Such horrible news for those closest to Chris and his many, many fans.
