China has criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for worsening tensions between Iran and Israel, accusing him of fueling the ongoing conflict instead of promoting peace.

During a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun condemned Trump’s recent comments, claiming they add to the instability.
“Stirring tensions, making threats, and applying pressure will only escalate and spread the conflict rather than help ease the situation,” Guo stated.

Trump had earlier posted on his Truth Social platform, urging Iranian citizens to evacuate Tehran immediately following Israel’s unexpected airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities last week.

Israel defended the strikes, asserting that they were intended to halt Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons development—an accusation Tehran has rejected.

The rising hostilities have disrupted peace talks, with Trump simultaneously calling for a return to the negotiation table while issuing stark warnings about the consequences of continued violence.

China, which maintains strategic ties with both Iran and Israel, called on powerful nations—particularly those with influence over Israel—to take responsibility and help reduce tensions.

“China urges all parties involved, especially countries that hold sway over Israel, to act responsibly and take swift action to prevent further escalation,” Guo said.

Meanwhile, China’s embassy in Israel issued a safety alert on Tuesday, urging its citizens to leave the country immediately due to the deteriorating security situation.

“Chinese nationals in Israel are advised to exit the country as soon as possible through land border routes, as long as they can ensure their safety,” the embassy posted on WeChat, recommending travel through Jordan.

The embassy cited ongoing military operations, damaged infrastructure, and rising civilian casualties as reasons for the urgent warning.
