A statement credited to the  All Progressives Congress (APC) alleges  that “a certain political party” is buying permanent voter cards (PVCs) so  that owners of the cards will not be able to vote.

The  APC on Fridaysaid the unnamed party  is buying the cards for N1,ooo especially in opposition strongholds.

Publicity secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed said, ”We appeal to our supporters in particular and all Nigerians in general not to sell their PVCs, because this will amount to mortgaging the future of their children just because of a paltry N1, 000. Your voter card is your power to help forge the much-needed positive change in our country. Protect it.’’

Mohammed also advised those  members  of the popoluace  who were yet to collect their PVCs or register to vote, to do so urgently, though the distribution of the cards and the continuous registration at the polling units might have ended, both exercises were still ongoing at the local government headquarters until January 31, 2015, “we have been assured by INEC that all those who registered will get their PVCs and the chance to vote in the 2015 general election,” it said. “We are therefore appealing to all our members and supporters who have not collected their cards to immediately proceed to their local government headquarters to collect them,” he said.
