Canadian Senator Salma Ataullahjan has voiced her support for Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following allegations of sexual harassment.
The Nigerian Senate recently suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment. The suspension was finalized on Thursday based on a report from the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, which cited multiple breaches of Senate rules.
In response to the allegations and subsequent suspension, Senator Ataullahjan publicly stood by Akpoti, commending her courage and encouraging her to remain strong.
“Stay strong, Natasha. @NatashaAkpoti Your bravery in speaking out against sexual harassment is a powerful reminder that we must all continue to fight for a safer, more respectful world for everyone. #JusticeForNatasha,” the Canadian lawmaker wrote.
