Popular Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has detailed his harrowing experience of surviving a stray bullet injury that forced him into a months-long career hiatus. In a recent video update, the multi-talented entertainer reflected on the sudden crisis, the physical toll, and the deep emotional anxiety he faced regarding his future in the entertainment industry.
The Shocking Incident and Emergency Response
The ordeal took place on a Sunday afternoon while Shaggi was filming a comedy skit and handling a brand assignment near the Sango-Ota bridge area. Without warning, a stray bullet struck him near the hip, causing severe bleeding and intense trauma. The actor recounted losing consciousness shortly after the hit, retaining only memories of praying fervently while being rushed to the nearest facility for emergency first aid.
Authorities from the Ogun State Police Command later acknowledged the report of the gunshot injury. Command spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified rumors while police investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
Fears Over Career and Mental Toll
For a creator whose signature style heavily features high-energy dance routines, physical humor, and musical performances, the leg injury presented a severe existential threat. Shaggi confessed that being away from his relentless work schedule, which had been non-stop since 2018, triggered a deep fear that fans and the industry might move on without him.
He disclosed that watching fellow content creators post new material while he was bedridden frequently brought him to tears, as he worried whether he would ever dance, play instruments, or act again. To keep his mind active during his hospital stay in Nigeria, he channeled his energy into writing and developing new concepts for his online channel.
Surgery in Dubai and Rehabilitation Update
Following initial surgical procedures in Nigeria, medical experts advised further specialized treatment and structured physiotherapy. Approximately four months into his ordeal, the actor traveled to Dubai for additional care. According to Shaggi, his physical progress accelerated remarkably following his operation in Dubai, where he managed to stand with support on the second day and move using crutches by the third.
While he still relies on crutches for extra stability, the comedian confirmed that he can now stand independently and walk much better. Expressing profound gratitude for surviving a shot that could have easily hit a vital organ, Shaggi described his recovery as a second chance at life and promised his followers an array of exciting new projects upon his full return.
