Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu believes beating Bosnia could determine Nigeria’s qualification from group stage of the World Cup. Nigeria are in the same group with the European country, Bosnia, Iran and two-time world champions, Argentina in Group H of the tournament. And in an interview with Newswatch Sports, the midfielder reckoned that while attentions
are given to Argentina of more concern is the match against Bosnia. The Academica Coimbra of Portugal player added that the debutants have a quality team replete with top notch players who are playing in some of the best clubs in Europe and it would be difficult to beat a side like that.
“I think we have a difficult group, but we should be able to get out of the group and progress to the next round. So many things have been said about Argentina but I think we should also be talking about a country like Bosnia. They have very good players like (Edin) Dzeko and it is not by surprise that they are in the world cup. For me, we should be able to take care of Iran even though I am not trying to underrate them but Bosnia is where the real match is. It is going to be a difficult game for both sides and if we can be able to overcome them then we would be alright.
“For Argentina, they have managed to beat us all the time we met at the World Cup, but we can stop them this time. It is going to be a 50-50 for two of us. ” The player also charged the home-based Eagles to win the forthcoming Africa Nations Champions (CHAN) holding in South Africa.
“I am sure they stand a chance of going out there to win. I know some of the players in that team and their experience will help the team a great deal. I spoke with one of them and I am happy about what he said that they would go to South Africa and repeat what the main Eagles did there last year by winning the tournament. Let us support and pray for them,” he said.
