Here is a list of prominent Nigerians from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states who have been rendered ‘townless’ or ‘villageless’ by Boko Haram insurgents, as more slices of Nigerian territory have been appropriated into the Islamic Caliphate.

Chief of Defence staff, Alex Badeh. His town of Vimtim, near Mubi is now under the control of Boko Haram, with his country home now said to be occupied by the insurgents.

Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi, the emir of Bama and his family.

Senator Ahmed Zanna, the Senator representing Borno Central in the National Assembly, also sacked from Bama.

Abdurahman Terab, member House of Representatives also sacked by Boko haram from the Bama axis.

Two Members of the State House of Assembly representing Bama: Mohammed Abba Jato (Bama Central) and Rawa Goni (Gulumba/Woloji).

Alhaji Rijya Bama, Alhaji Mustapha Kwali-Kwali, Alhaji Modu Musumbe, Alhaji Mogamus and Alhaji Zarami Banki, all businessmen can’t go back to Bama, unless they want to get the passport of the Islamic Caliphate.

Gwoza is said to be the headquarters of the Islamic caliphate. It was annexed by Boko Haram on 6 August.Now Renamed Darul Hikma or House of Wisdom, it is now a no-go area for the following prominent people:

*The emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Mustapha Idrissa Timta and members of his family.

*Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South in the National Assembly. His hometown of Gwoza no longer exists on Boko Haram map.

*Umar Hambagda, a former senator, Ambassador Mahmud Ahmed, Alhaji Lawan Buba, Alhaji Haruna Timta, a former head of service, Dr Asabe Vilita Bashir, a former commissioner .

 

*Emir of Dikwa, Alhaji Muhammadu Ibn Shehu Masta II and members of his family. The town of Dikwa Dikwa, one of the ancient towns of Borno is also under the firm control of Boko Haram a.

* Mohammed Zakariya, the member representing the area in the State House of Assembly and Alhaji Mustapha Gajibo, among others.

Gamboru Ngala, a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon, is under the control of the insurgents as well.

The following people can’t go home now:
* Galadima Modu Sheriff, father of former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff. Though a maiduguri-based person for decades, Gamboru remains the ancestral.

*Idrissa Jidda, Member representing Ngala in the State House of Assembly .

Gashigar, a major town under Mobbar local government in Borno state is now also Boko Haram council.

 

* Brigadier-General Abba Kyari (Rtd) former governor of North Central State is now a persona non grata here.

* Umar Lawan Kareto, a former national treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Alhaji Gambo Lawan, a former gubernatorial aspirant are also barred by Shekau and his gang

Marte, a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon is also under Boko Haram occupation.

The roll call of the prominent people who cannot go home or don’t even have a home there anymore under the scotched earth policy of Boko Haram.

* Alhaji Asheikh Jarma, a former governor of Borno State; Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jiddah, the secretary to the Borno State Government and Asheikh Kurso Bashir, a former member of the State House of Assembly.

Monguno is another local government ruled by Sheikh Abubakar Shekau.

*Internally displaced is Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, an elder statesman.

*Also Tahir Monguno, a Member of the House of Reps.

In all as confirmed by the deputy governor of Borno state, Alhaji Zanna Umar Mustapha, eight local councils out of Borno’s 27 councils.

Yobe state

Buni yadi, Buni Gari, Ambiya and Goneri are towns under Gujba Local Government Area, taken over by Boko Haram.

The VIPs shut out of their towns are:

*Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a Former governor and a serving senator
* Alhaji Bunu Sharif, fformer FCT minister,
*Colonel Dala Aji Goniri, former commander of 241 Recce Batallion, Nguru
*Mai Kachalla Gujba, an Executive Director at First Bank.

Other people from the area are: Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Member House of Reps, Hajia Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim; Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Ahmed Goneri; former commissioner and currently Special Adviser to Governor Gaidam, Alhaji Aji Yerima Bularafa.

Bara, Bularafa, Gumsa, and Dokshi are towns under Gulani Local Government Area under the control of the insurgents.

Prominent people from the area include the serving Minister of science and technology, Dr. Abdu Bulama, Managing Director, Chad Basin Development Authority, Dr. Garba Iliya and many others.

In Adamawa State, five local councils are now under Boko Haram, including the second largest town of Mubi

Affected are :

*Governor Bala Ngilari

* the speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly and erstwhile acting governor, Ahmadu Fintiri. They are from madagali local council area now grouped under Islamic Caliphate.
*Boni Haruna, the Minister of Youths Development. He is from Michika.

*Zainab Maina, the Minister of Women Affairs and the Chief of Defence Staff , Air Marshal Alex Badeh. Both are from Mubi

*Senator Muhammed Jubrilla, representing Northern Senatorial Zone. He is from Maiha.

Also affected are two members of the House of Representatives from Mubi North/Mubi South/Maiha as well as Michika/Madagali, Abubakar Mahmudu Wambai and Titsi Ganama respectively.

Others are five state legislators and five council chairmen of Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South and Maiha as well as their councillors.
