BBNaija Season 9 housemate Toyosi has hinted that she and her long-time friend Damilola, who make up Team Tami, might go their separate ways following their eviction from the show on Sunday.
In a post-eviction interview with host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Toyosi, despite their seven-year friendship, expressed that she is contemplating a split from Damilola.
This revelation came after their brief stint in the Big Brother house, where they became the first pair to be eliminated.
The interview unfolded as follows:
Ebuka asked the pair, “Are you going to continue living together?”
Damilola promptly answered, “Yeah.”
However, Toyosi had a different response, saying, “I love you so much but I feel like there has been a lot of tension. She has been blaming herself too much and I want her to think without me being there.”
Dami responded, “Would that be why?”
Toyosi replied, “Yes, you are blaming yourself too much, when you see me, you keep blaming yourself and I, on the other hand, would like to think too. I don’t think I would be able to be in the same space with someone who is blaming herself, it makes me very sad.”
Ebuka then asked Damilola for her thoughts on Toyosi’s decision, to which she said, “I’m too stunned to speak.”
Noticing the palpable tension, Ebuka urged them to have an open and honest conversation to address their emotions. He advised, “Final note, what’s next? Maybe you guys have not had this conversation yet, there’s a lot of emotions bottled up. You haven’t expressed how you feel so hearing that now, I think what needs to happen is both of you sitting down.”
As the conversation reached a critical point, both Toyosi and Damilola broke down in tears, overwhelmed by their emotions.
Ebuka concluded, “If you’ve been friends for 7 years, I think you should know how to communicate with each other. Sit down and say how you feel. I don’t think a week in Big Brother’s house should damage friendship. You’re obviously hurt for different reasons.”
