Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has dismissed claims of any personal relationship with former BBNaija star, Nengi.
Speculations had been circulating that Nengi had welcomed a child with the governor, who is already married to four wives.
The rumors gained traction after controversial blogger Gistlover shared a post featuring Nengi’s picture, hinting at her alleged connection to the governor. The blogger’s caption suggested that she had secretly given birth to the governor’s child, sparking widespread discussions online.
Responding to the allegations, Governor Diri’s spokesperson, Dr. Kola Oredipe, labeled the claims as “baseless fabrications.”
“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. Unfortunately, purveyors of fake news seem unsettled by the governor’s rising political profile,” Oredipe stated.
He further criticized the spread of misinformation, calling it a distraction. “While we were commissioning a new road in Yenagoa, certain individuals on social media were busy peddling falsehoods about the governor,” he added.
