Banky W has stirred reactions online after revealing how his relationship with wife Adesua Etomi-Wellington began.
The singer made the disclosure during an episode of The Teju Babyface Show, where he explained that after his romantic attempts were turned down, he stopped pursuing her and accepted friendship instead.
According to Banky W, there was a time he strongly believed Adesua was meant for him, but she did not initially share the same feelings.
After repeated unsuccessful efforts, he said he reached his limit.
“I was like, I’m not talking to her again,” he recalled
He added that the experience made him reflect on his past relationships and heartbreaks.
Rather than cutting ties completely, Banky W said he chose to remain friends with her, describing Adesua as one of the best friendships he had ever had. He said their bond only grew stronger with time.
Still believing they were destined to be together, he said he left the matter in God’s hands.
“I went to God and said, ‘If you want us together, go and tell her,’” he shared.
He explained that he decided never to raise the issue of marriage again unless she brought it up herself.
According to him, the turning point came unexpectedly during a phone call when Adesua reportedly said:
“Banky, you know you’re my husband, right?”
The revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users saying such private details should have remained personal.
