Even as child trafficking and sale of  babies in maternity homes booms in Abia state, a heartless mother strangled her four months old baby and dumped it on the disused rail track in Umuahia.
The  corpse of  the baby boy dumped inside a carton was discovered on Monday morning by passers bye who raised alarm at the sordid sight.

Eyewitness accounts  at the scene of the incident said that they were attracted to the scene by some group of early morning passers-by who, on sighting the body, raised alarm,  which attracted some Mobile phone accessories traders who were about opening for business.

Our correspondent reports that the dead baby boy was neatly dressed and had blood gushing out from his nose, ear and mouth an indication most sympathizers  said suggested that the baby  might have been strangled.
