Nigerian actor Baba Ijesha and his fashion designer wife, Luminee, have found themselves at the center of social media chatter. The buzz follows the announcement of the Aso Ebi prices for their newborn son’s upcoming naming ceremony, which many netizens have labeled as quite exorbitant.

The couple, who recently celebrated the arrival of their first child together, revealed that the grand event is scheduled to take place on August 27, 2026. However, it is the cost of the event’s uniform attire that has set tongues wagging across various social media platforms.

N250k for Men, N350k for Women: The Cost of Celebrating with the Couple

According to the official invitation flyer shared on their respective Instagram accounts, guests wishing to rock the official Aso Ebi will have to dig deep into their pockets. The male package is priced at N250,000, while the female version goes for a whopping N350,000.

This revelation immediately sparked intense debate online, with many questioning whether celebrity family milestones have become commercialized or unnecessarily extravagant in the current economic climate.

Netizens React to the Premium Pricing

The pricing structure has drawn comparisons to other recent high-profile celebrity events. Notably, some online commentators likened it to the buzz surrounding Nollywood stars Lateef Adedimeji and Mo’Bimpe’s baby thanksgiving event, which also featured premium-priced attire.

While some critics expressed displeasure at what they term ‘unnecessary pressure’ on friends and well-wishers, others rushed to the couple’s defense. Proponents argued that Aso Ebi is entirely optional and that those who cannot afford it can simply attend the event in alternative outfits or celebrate the family from afar.

A New Chapter for Baba Ijesha and Luminee

The upcoming celebration comes just weeks after the couple joyfully announced the birth of their baby boy. This new addition marks a significant milestone for Baba Ijesha, who recently returned to the spotlight after serving a prison sentence following a highly publicized child sexual abuse conviction.

Despite his controversial past, his wife Luminee has remained fiercely supportive. Following the birth of their son in June, she took to social media to shower her husband with praise, describing him as a ‘one in a million’ partner with a pure heart.
