Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has revealed that she hopes her mother never hears the second verse of her latest collaboration with Wizkid, titled ‘Gimme Dat,’ where she boldly sings about wanting to “survey” a man’s private parts.
In the song’s second verse — which samples Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 classic ‘911’ — Ayra Starr reflects on how many men observe her for the wrong reasons but highlights her ability to turn that attention into empowerment.
She sings:
“So many people wan lick my stew, so baby chill make I survey your tools… and if I handle your 2 by 2, you fit to scream, you go lose your cool.”
The verse quickly stirred conversation among fans. While some praised her creativity and boldness, others criticized the lyrics as being too explicit.
Taking to her X account on Saturday, Ayra Starr admitted her own concerns, writing:
“Hopefully my mom never listens to my second verse.”
