Atiku Abubakar has clinched the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
He was officially declared winner by the ADC Presidential Primary Electoral Committee in Abuja after the conclusion of a two-day collation exercise.
However, the primary results and collation process have reportedly been challenged by his opponents, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The returning officer, Tunde Ogbeha, announced the final results late Wednesday night after the collation process ended.
According to the figures released, Atiku scored 1,846,370 votes to emerge victorious over the other aspirants.
Ogbeha stated that Amaechi secured 504,117 votes, while Hayatu-Deen received 177,120 votes.
The outcome officially makes Atiku the ADC flagbearer for the 2027 presidential race after weeks of political consultations and coalition talks within the opposition camp.
This will be the fourth time Atiku has emerged as a presidential candidate.
