Former Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta is preparing to retire, marking the end of his legendary playing career.
The 40-year-old, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, is set to officially announce his retirement on October 8, 2024.
Iniesta hinted at the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday with the message, “Coming soon 8/10/24,” igniting excitement and speculation among fans and the football world.
Throughout a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Iniesta made 674 appearances for Barcelona’s senior team, scoring 57 goals and providing 135 assists. The Spanish playmaker was key to securing 32 major trophies for the club, including nine La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League victories, and six Copa del Rey trophies.
