Ambode backs building Africa’s biggest seaport in Badagry

Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, yesterday said his administration has thrown its full weight behind the proposed construction of a massive deep seaport in Badagry area of the state.

Ambode who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists shortly after inspecting some projects in Badagry axis of the state said the Badagry seaport would be the biggest on the African continent.

The governor said, “This is the proposed site for the biggest Deep Seaport in Africa. The land space for the Deep Seaport is over 1,000 hectares of which we have just been told that there’s going to be a free trade zone and then we are going to have a container terminal here.

“We already know that the investors have done the best they could. We have Mearsk in the bouquet of investors who have signed on to this project and what that means for us is that we are going to have the largest cargo container port in Africa situated in Badagry.
