The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in Zone 7, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, yesterday, ordered the that an African Independent Television reporter be detained for calling him a “controversial police.”
The journalist, Amaechi Anakwe, a reporter cum presenter for the African Independent Television, AIT, was detained Thursday morning after he reported at the Zone 7 police headquarters in Abuja, on the invitation of Mr. Mbu.
Mbu invited Anakwue to his office for allegedly referring to him as a “controversial police officer” during a television programme.
t was learnt that on getting to the office, Mbu ordered his men to detain Anakwue.
Last night, the management of DAAR Communications demanded the release of the journalist.
