Taxi fares in Abuja, will be harmonized and fixed as from 2015, as the Federal Capital Transport Authority (FCTA) impllements the introduction of kilometre charts.
Mandate Secretary of the FCTA Transportation Secretariat, Engr. Jonathan Ivoke, says the introduction of calibrated metres will enable commuters in the city enjoy cheaper and affordable transport system.
The “Kilometre Chart” will address distance related issues, profit, fuel consumption and car maintenance.
He further disclosed that the city’s rail system will become functional before next year runs out.
In a breakdown of the activities of the secretariat since the beginning of 2014, Ivoke said the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services DRTS was able to generate internally, N2.2 billion for the FCT Administration.
He asserted further that all traffic lights in the territory will be solar-powered by next years just to enable free flow of traffic in the city.
