The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Abia state, Professor Selina Okon, says she has been bombarded with assassination and death threats.
Ahead of the April 25 supplementary election of the state, Okon has revealed to Punch Newspapers that some elements are after her life.
She stated the death threats went as far as describing how she would be eliminated.
“Yes, I have been getting calls threatening my life. I have been getting text messages about how they will shoot me through the window of my car.”
Furthermore, Okon stated that she has reported the threats to the appropriate security agencies. She said: “Yes, I have. I told them that my life is being threatened.”
The candidates of the PDP, Dr Ikpeazu Okezie and APGA, Dr. Alex Otti, will go head to head on Saturday in the supplementary governorship election of the state.
