1st of October, 1960 was the day we got our the independence, the day the Union Jack was lowered, and the green white green, the  Nigerian flag was hoisted for the very first time. The day we freed ourselves from the shackles of oppression.

53 years down the line, despite the odds, the gloomy horizons, the seemingly insurmountable problems, we at Naijalog believe we have every reasons to celebrate.

Celebration time for the wise are moments to reflect, strategize on overcoming the failures of the past, now is the moment to brainstorm on how to get it right collective, how we will shed the toga of a failed nation, how we will slay the hydra-headed monster corruption together, how brothers will stop the senseless killing of each other in the name of religion ….

While many Nigerian are skeptical and will give you a deluge of  cogent reasons why we should not celebrate , the mere fact that we live to see this day as one indivisible nation despite all the odds is enough reason, the reason that we are not in a state of war, are enough reasons  to beat the drums in a modest manner.

Pessimism must give way to optimism that we will get it right.

LONG LIVE NIGERIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
