According to reports, no fewer than four people were allegedly shot dead on Tuesday during the 17th year anniversary of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
According to New Telegraph, the deceased were allegedly shot dead by a combined team of the army, police, civil defence and drug law enforcement agents along Onitsha/Owerri Road as members were marching through the streets to celebrate the event.
Trouble started when members of the group were accosted while approaching Enamel Ware Industry by a contingent of the joint task force who were fully armed.
The security operatives were alleged to have fired sporadically in the air to disperse the crowd.
Four people were allegedly killed in the process while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and bullet wounds.
The dead were carried away by the joint task force while others injured, who could not escape, were arrested and thrown into open vans and taken to unknown destination.
