A competent source said the violent clash cum leadership tussle commenced following the death of  one Bashir Mohammed who up till now is believed to have impersonated Abubakar Sheakau, who new information at our disposal was killed last year.

Successors involved in the fight to become the new head of Boko Haram include Habib Yusuf, Khalid Albamawa, Momodu Baw and Mohammed Zangira.

There is every chance that by the time the dust settles after the in-fighting, Boko Haram would have been considerably weakened, our source said.
