A 29-year-old man, Tijani Ibrahim, on Thursday, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly raping his sister-in-law.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rafael Donny told the court that the offences were committed on July 13 and July 22, respectively at the accused residence.

Donny alleged that the accused raped his 17- year-old sister-in-law who lived in his house.

“The accused raped the victim on two occasions. One of the days he raped the girl was when his wife put to bed.

“After raping the girl, he threatened to deal with her if she told anyone.

“The accused also beat the girl when she attempted to run away from the house as a result of the sexual assault,’’ he said.

The prosecutor said that offences contravened Sections 168 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Elias adjourned the case to Oct. 6 for the advice from the office of the Director Public Prosecution.
