A welder in Lagos has been arrested and arraigned after reports that he killed his friend after an argument.
25-year-old Taiwo Adeyemi is said to have struck Isikilu Oladeinde, a mechanic, with a stick after they disagreed over the latter’s apprentice.
Adeyemi was charged with Oladeinde’s murder before a Magistrate court in the Ebute Metta area of the state.
Reports have confirmed that hee is to be in the Ikoyi Prison in Lagos State, pending the determination of his culpability by the state’s Directorate of Public Prosecution.
It was gathered that Adeyemi and Oladeinde, who plied their trade in Ashade Market, Agege, had a fight at Adeyemi’s workshop. Twenty-eight-year-old Oladeinde on the fateful day had approached one of the apprentices of his friend for assistance at the workshop.
It was learnt that the boy had declined doing the work because his boss had not been consulted. While the deceased was reportedly insisting he followed him, Adeyemi, who was working underneath a vehicle and eavesdropping on the conversation, came out and challenged his friend.
He was said to have picked quarrel with the deceased for wanting to use his apprentice without informing him. The deceased, who stormed out of the workshop in anger, allegedly flung a dirty cloth on the defendant who had returned to working under the car.
Adeyemi was said to have got up, picked a stick and began chasing the deceased. The late Oladeinde reportedly fell down and was hit with the stick. The victim allegedly died from the injuries he sustained in the course of the brawl.
